Hi, this is Kev. We are two weeks away from 2017. We are two weeks away from 2017 and this is the time for celebration, this is the time for reflection, this is time for a year in review.
I want to share with you a year in review process that I’m just about to go through myself, which will really allow me to think about the year I’ve just had, and also allow you to take some time for yourself and think about the year you’ve just had. We are always being distracted by other people from social media to messages to emails to phone calls to Youtube. But, now it’s the time to reflect. Now it’s the time to think about you for a moment. Think about where you are, in accordance to your goals and your visions for the future?
Watch The Video:
Now, we all set new year’s resolutions. You may have set your goals already for the new year, but I think it’s more important to think about where you currently are?
This will allow you then to align yourself for the things you actually want and make those new year goals most affective, the most motivated and the most inspiring. Because once you know where you are, once you know what the progress you’ve made, it will allow you to get crystal clear on the things you want to do in the new year. And get into that new year all guns blazing. Take massive action from day one. You know, not get to February, March and think I need to start the year.
Once you know where you are, once you know what the progress you’ve made, it will allow you to get crystal clear on the things you want to do in the new year. It will allow you to get into that new year all guns blazing, take massive action from day one.
It’s a very simple process. I have just gone through some simple questions I want to ask myself. Now, you may have ask yourself these questions already, I am not sure. But if you didn’t, this will give you some guidance, some hints, some important questions, some powerful questions that you could ask. Which will allow you to then really think about the year you just had. Take some moment for yourself, empower yourself, enjoy this process and then get kicking ass.
So, the first one, I’ve just come up with it is:
Now, I’ve come up with this, it’s a powerful question to ask yourself because when somebody asks you in passing, if somebody walked in here right now and asked how is your year being? I would just simply say, yeah it’s been alright, it’s been good and I think the majority of people say that or they’ll say, it’s not been the best year, or I’ve worked a lot. But when you think about that in more detail or when you think about the amazing year you may have had, or the challenging year you may have had, it allows you to condense all that in one sentence.
When you think back over the years, in the future when you think back to right now it will allow you to go, that year was a great year, that year was an inspiring year, that year was a life changing year or whatever the case might be.
Once you’ve done that, then think about the beginning of the year because we all change, we all start the year with all these hopes and dreams and maybe fresh belief on what we want to do, but things change, we grow, we make progress, our goals and our dreams and visions they do change. So, I find it really quite powerful to think about the things that you wanted to do. So, when we think about the start of the year, go back to the start of the 2017 and think about:
Did you set yourself some new year’s resolutions last year and did you fully commit yourself?
Then you can also ask yourself:
You may be thinking, well last year I wanted to lose some weight or I wanted to learn a language or I wanted to start new business, whatever the case is. What was important to you then? Because once you know what was important to you, it’s a really good thing to think and then you can think about yourself now and go, wow that was important to me then and it’s really not that big of a deal to me now and then shows the progress you’ve made or the different person you’ve become.
And once you’ve done that, you can then ask:
If your goal was to potentially learn a new language or start a new business or lose some weight or start a new sport or what’s your vision for the future. A lot of people think I have to start a gym because I have a vision of becoming healthier and fitter, which will allow them to maybe have the body that they want or start a new sport or go running or start tennis or whatever it is, because you had that vision of whatever you wanted.
Because then you can think about where you are right now did somewhere down the line you decker off or did you lose that motivation, lose that inspiration. Because it will remind yourself of those emotions that you once had.
Once you’ve gone through that real quick powerful process, you can then think about that whole year in general:
We need to think about the success you had and really get them stacked on top of one another from major successes to minor successes and everything in-between and really build that confidence because I don’t think a lot of us give ourselves the credit we deserve. We are very quick to congratulate each other. We are always quick to give each other praise. But take this moment, empower yourself and think, you know what?
I’ve had a great year. Look at all the successes I’ve had and start listing them.
You can list from your life-changing successes, you may have got the new job that you wanted, you may have achieved that educational degree or you may have enrolled in a program and achieved and progressed and you may have learned a new language, you may have done all these things, get it down and think about how amazing that you were to achieve all this success. Because that is going to make you think, wow I can do this stuff, I can build the life that I want, because look at all the things that I have done.
Another thing that I suggest for you to ask yourself:
When you think back of all the successes you had, what are you most proud of?
Could be the big things, could be the small things. A lot of people don’t take that time to think, you know what, I am proud of myself for that. I took some action there, I had to overcome this adversity. I went through challenging time and I overcome it. We all experience the challenging times the sad times and you also learn to overcome those challenges, whatever it might be. You may have financial difficulty, you may have health and fitness difficulty and if you’ve overcome that, if you’ve lost the weight or if you’ve stopped a bad habit or you’ve cut down on the drinking or you’ve stopped smoking or whatever it might be. What are you most proud of?
Take the time for yourself.
Then I suggest you think about the experiences. I love this bit. I’ve put down here:
Because I love to go through this process and think I’ve had some amazing experiences and you should do the same. You think about where you have traveled, the activities you’ve had, the things that you’ve done with your friends and your family. And have you experienced some new things like for the first time have you tasted some food or have you gone to that concert or gone to theatre or have you gone on the plane for the first time or have you gone on the holidays for the first time? Get it all down and think about wow look at all these experiences that you’ve had.
On the flip side of it, I’ve then gone to the failures and lessons learned. Because there is always lessons to be learned. Because everybody experiences challenges and has failures.
What lessons have you learned from that? Because that’s how we grow, that’s how we don’t do the same mistakes and that’s how we become better and stronger. So this up and coming year you know; look last year I didn’t do that, I could have done that better and this year I am going to do it so much better and achieve the things that I wanted to achieve.
Have you set yourself some goals that you didn’t achieve and then you ask yourself, why didn’t I achieve that goal?
Did I commit myself fully enough to that goal? Because when you set yourself these new year’s resolutions, you can think last year I didn’t commit myself 100%. I didn’t commit any actions and this year I am not going to do the same. This year I am going to achieve. So that’s a great question to ask yourself.
Another question is:
There is always those missed opportunities that I feel you have. There is opportunity every single day, there is opportunity around us. And there is always those one or two or maybe more that you think, damn, you know what that was a missed opportunity. I could have taken that opportunity and I didn’t. And this next year I will never ever miss that opportunity again. I will make sure that I take the opportunity and pounce on it and take massive action with it. Because life is all about creating it and being happy.
We all obviously strive to be happy in our lives and whatever that definition of happiness is for you, you need to find out what those ultimate visions are for you in all areas of your life and work out if you’ve made progress or not and that’s what this year in review is all about. And this is what allows you to ask these questions and when you answer them and think about them and go through this process and it will then allow you to then set yourself some new year resolutions, which will then re-align you to make the progress, to achieve the life goals that you have, the life visions that you have.
So that was just a quick video guys, a year in review, I hope it proves to provide some value to you. I am going to be going through this process myself and think about the journey I’ve had, the difficulties I’ve had and then really set myself some new year’s resolutions to kick some major butt in all areas. From health and fitness to business to financial to lifestyle and build the ultimate dreams that we all have.
So, looking forward to hearing from you all perspective. Do you guys do a year in review process? What do you ask yourself? Do you ask yourself any better questions? Because I am always looking to make this process a bit better. And then we’ll get into the new year’s resolutions over Christmas and really start to take some huge amount of action.
